Previously there was a real threat that the surrounding fields at Mountfields and Killams could be put forward as part of a long term plan for the expansion of Taunton. The situation has now changed very dramatically and the landowner Summerfield Developments Ltd is expecting to apply for full planning permission for 650 house in June 2010. If granted by TDBC, then the building work would start the very next day. The bulldozers and concrete lorries could be in the beautiful green fields within just a few months.

If this is not stopped then it will set a precedent for other boundaries of the Vivary Green Wedge such as WILTON, SHERFORD, TRULL and MOUNT STREET
